Poker occupies a unique place in the world of online casino gaming. Unlike baccarat or slots where you play against the house, in poker you compete against other players. This means the skill, knowledge, and discipline you build over time genuinely separate long-term winning players from those who simply get lucky every now and then. At WM996, our poker platform is built to provide a fair, secure, and enjoyable environment for Malaysian players of all levels — whether you're just starting out or looking to take your game to the next level.
The Malaysian poker community has grown steadily over recent years. Many younger players begin their poker journey on online platforms before stepping up to live tables — and WM996 is the ideal starting point, offering micro tables with blinds as low as RM0.01/RM0.02. You can learn, make mistakes, and build your skills without worrying about losing big.
Texas Hold'em is the most widely played poker variant in the world, and WM996 hosts the most active Hold'em tables in Malaysia. Each player receives two face-down cards (hole cards), and five community cards are revealed in stages — the flop (three cards), the turn (one card), and the river (one card). The objective is to form the best five-card combination using any combination of your hole cards and the community cards.
What makes Hold'em so compelling is the depth of strategy involved. Starting hand selection, reading opponents through their betting patterns, managing table position, and making the right calls at every street — all of this takes time and experience to master. WM996 keeps hand notes and your personal game statistics so you can review the decisions you made and learn from every session.
For many players, the biggest draw of poker is the multi-table tournament (MTT). Picture this — you pay a RM25 buy-in, and a few hours later you're at the final table with tens of thousands of ringgit in the prize pool. That's a regular reality at WM996, where our Monthly Monster guarantees a RM50,000 prize pool every month. First place can walk away with over RM15,000 from a single tournament with just a RM100 buy-in.
For players looking to experience tournament play without any financial risk, the WM996 Saturday Freeroll is the perfect starting point. No buy-in, a real cash prize pool of RM500, and up to 500 seats available every week. It's the ideal way to feel the pressure and dynamics of a real tournament before committing any money.
One of the most common complaints among poker players is the long wait between hands — especially at tables where players take their time making decisions. WM996 addresses this with its Speed Poker (fast-fold) format, which lets you fold a weak hand at any point and instantly be moved to a new table with a fresh hand. The result — you can play over 3,000 hands in an hour, compared to just 60–80 in standard poker. For players looking to rack up experience quickly or those already playing at a more advanced level, Speed Poker is an ideal format.
WM996 understands that convenient payment options are a priority for Malaysian players. That's why we support all the most popular local digital payment methods — Touch 'n Go eWallet, DuitNow, GrabPay, Boost and ShopeePay are all processed instantly. For those who prefer online banking, FPX connects directly to Maybank2u, CIMB Clicks, RHB Now, Hong Leong Connect and all major Malaysian banks.
Minimum deposit is just RM10 — enough to get started at micro-stakes tables and build your bankroll gradually. Winnings are processed quickly with no hidden fees. WM996's daily rakeback programme ensures regular players always receive a fair return — over time, that rakeback can add up to a meaningful boost to your overall profits.
Poker is a long-term skill game, but it still involves real money and real financial risk. WM996 encourages all players to set a clear bankroll limit before they start — generally no more than 5% of your bankroll at a single cash game table, or no more than 2% per tournament buy-in. Bankroll discipline is the single most important factor separating players who stay in the game long-term from those who bust out quickly. Use WM996's self-deposit limit feature to help you stay in control at all times.
